Shane Miller Started his training at the tender age of 9 in the Art of Taekwondo with then 1st Degree Black Belt David Ridener at East Orlando School of Taekwondo. He chose the martial arts to help him to get over his shyness and to defend himself from the local school bullies. As he started to train he developed a passion for the Art of Taekwondo and trained three times a week for two hours each time. This passion would last for the next four years and would take him from white belt to the rank of brown belt. Due Mr. Ridener moving to a different town Shane was forced to take a short break from Taekwondo,
During this time Shane spent six months at a local Ishinryu Karate school that honored his understanding of the martial Arts and allowed him to continue training. Mr. Ridener then reopened a school in the Orlando Area and Shane continued his Taekwondo journey. He attained his Red Belt and found himself at another crossroads in his physical and spiritual walk.
The youth Pastor Parkway Baptist Church Joe Allison asked if he would be willing to help create a Christian Martial Art Demonstration Team and Shane Jumped at the chance and joined a martial arts organization called the Christian Taekwondo Rangers and started instructing students and teaching Taekwondo classes at his church at the age 17. For over three years he taught martial arts classes at his church with as many as 70 students attending weekly. Finally in 1991 Shane realized his dream of becoming a Black Belt after over 8 Years of hard work. In 1992 he returned to training with the now Master Ridener. He was able to train like never before and would go to long grueling Saturday workouts that included Beginner class at 10 AM, Advanced Class at 11AM for Two Hours and Black Belt Class at 1PM to 3PM with a group of 14 Black Belts. From 1992 through 1995 Instructor Shane Miller taught everywhere he could be useful and found himself teaching in as many as six Locations weekly throughout Central Florida.
In the summer of 1995 another milestone came along Instructor Shane Miller joined the American Dragon Martial Arts Academies as A Taekwondo Instructor and a Hapkido Student. He was excited at the opportunity to work with over 100 students at the American Dragon Martial Arts Academy in Ocoee. Who knew now 13 years later he would still be a part of that school. In 1997 under the instruction of Master Richard Hackworth he earned his Black Belt in the art of Hapkido and go on to receive his master Rank in both Taekwondo and Hapkido. From 1995 through 1997 Instructor Miller served a two year Internship under the guidance of Grandmaster Richard Hackworth and received his Instructors License from the Korea Taekwondo Association and the Korea Hapkido Federation.
In 1998 he made a choice to strike out into another field of study Aerobics with some rudimentary training in Kardio kickboxing he began to design what is now called Kardio Kickfit. He worked with a local Gym chain to bring his brand of Kickboxing to the masses. At the height of his popularity he taught thirteen classes per week between as many as four Health Clubs. Classes ranged from 8-50 people per class were very high energy and fun classes. Also in 1998 he realized his next Martial Arts dream by becoming the Youngest American to ever be ranked as a Master at the age of 24 years. He would also go on to be the Youngest ever American to be a Master in Both Taekwondo and Hapkido in late 1999. He would go on to continue his training and teaching through the Health Clubs until 2002. Eventually managing and running two different gyms Paramount Health Clubs Conway and The Lord’s Gym Clermont.
Several years of working in health clubs teaching Kardio Kickfit and martial arts. A successful martial arts school by the name of World Karate Martial Arts came calling looking for an experienced floor Instructor to take them to the next level. Master Shane Miller was hired to fulfill this role. He was able to bring the traditional martial arts back to a martial arts school that was basically being run as a sport Karate school. He found it rewarding to work with over 200 students each week.
Then an unexpected opportunity came about in 2004 to be a Surveyor for the Walt Disney World Company. Though Master Shane Miller considered himself a career martial arts instructor he jumped at the chance to join the Imagineering Team at the Walt Disney World Company. He has also continued to be a guest instructor at many martial arts school locations. Then from 2006 to early 2008 he once again taught for the American Dragon Martial Arts Academies owned by his mentor and Instructor Grandmaster Richard Hackworth. He was able to teach four days a week until another wonderful thing happened. Grandmaster Hackworth was asked to be the Korean Martial Arts Instructors Association International Director at the Headquarters in Soeul, South Korea.
